3 Tips To Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is something that I struggled with for a long time. It took me years to realize my worth and to become more and more confident in my appearance but more importantly, who I am. I used to think I could not show people who I truly was so I hid behind what others wanted me to be. I cared what other people thought, I compared myself to others and I did not love myself. Although I can now say I have pretty good self-confidence, it isn't every day that I feel awesome about myself. I have developed some tips that I continue to stand by on these days where I am feeling off and to give to others for advice when needed.

Maybe you are someone who feels as though they have no confidence in yourself or maybe you continuously have those "off days" where you feel like your self-confidence is lacking. Try out these three tips as a stepping stone to where you want your confidence to be. Small, continuous steps lead to a greater impact.

1. Keep Promises To Yourself

People can be great at keeping promises of friends, coworkers or loved ones, but when it comes to keeping promises for OURSELF, it is a whole different story. You say you are going to do something for yourself, you end up putting it off or pushing it aside which leads to you feeling guilty and bad about yourself. Maybe you said you were going to start working out this week. Or you said that you would actually take the leap for the new job but you didn't. It can even be something as simple as saying you will clean up the kitchen before you leave the house. These small things you tell yourself you will do but don't end up doing take a toll on your confidence because it leads you to start thinking you can't accomplish anything. Start small by making a small promises to yourself and actually KEEPING them. Go from there and make the promises larger overtime. You will feel so much more accomplished and proud of yourself if you begin doing this.

2. Do Things You Enjoy

This one is simple. Do things you like and you will feel good. If you "don't have time," make time. If this is a priority to you, you will make it work. Make a list of things you like to do and start by fitting 3 of those into your week. They don't have to be huge. They can be something like taking a bath, reading for 30 minutes, or going on a walk. It will make a huge difference, I promise.

3. Take ACTUAL Care of Yourself

This one is so important and a lot of people think self-care is simply watching your favourite tv show or eating some comfort food to make you feel better. Taking actual care of yourself is taking care of your mental and physical health. Are you feeling anxious? Talk to someone you trust or journal. Are you feeling drained? Take that afternoon to actually rest. (No, I don't mean watch tv and go on your phone and answer emails at the same time. I mean real rest that leaves you feeling REFRESHED). If you are feeling sluggish, move your body and fit some whole foods and greens into your meals. Workout multiple times a week. Take care of your mind and body and you will feel much better about yourself.

Let me know if you try these out and if you have anything I should add! I love your opinions and want to know what you want to see from me so please, let me know!

Love, Zahné
