Hair Products for my Curly/Wavy Hair

Happy Friday Eve gfs! Today I am going to break down my hair care products. Recently, I learned how to take care of my natural, curly/wavy hair and it has been game changing. For years and years, I figured I just had awkward, in the middle, kinda wavy-ish hair. Some days it would look like I walked straight out of a surfer girl movie with beach waves, and some days, it would look like I slept weird and woke up with bedhead.. not cute imo. So, I took it upon myself to be an adult and learn how to actually take care of my hair. To give you a bit more background, I have been bleaching my hair 1-2 times a year for the past 8 years and for most of those years, my bff was the hair straightener and curling wand. Oh and on top of that, I never cut my hair because I wanted it to be long lol. So you can imagine the damage it's been through.
When Covid hit and we all were forced to go au natural, I decided I was going to try to stop putting heat on my hair and wearing makeup as much. The makeup part was easy because I was going through A LOT of hormonal acne and needed my skin to breathe (that is a whole other story) but the hair.. oh boy that has been hard. My natural hair was crazy 24/7 and I just didn't feel cute. Fast forward to about a month and a half ago I realized that I didn't know what on earth I was doing with my curls. I did a bunch of research and asked insta and my hairstylist gfs and I think I got this figured out. My hair has never felt better and I am seriously so shocked. It's shiny and soft and if you have a bleaching/heat past like I do.. you know how hard it is to get your hair texture to feel good again. Oh and for the first time ever, my hair isn't a frizzy disaster!! I am in love. Ok I will get into the products and routine, but bare with me because she's a long one.
SHAMPOO
Okay I have three shampoo situations I rotate between. I wash my hair twice a week and I alternate between these three and use some together. I know, talk about high maintenance. First up, Eleven Australia Smooth Me Now Shampoo. I thank this for dealing with my frizz. No words besides you need to try it if your hair is frizzy. Next, Briogeo Scalp Revival. This is a scalp exfoliating shampoo and it makes my scalp feel amazing. It almost gives off a cooling sensation... Sometimes I will use this alone, and sometimes, I will just use it on my scalp and then use my Smooth Me Now on the ends. It is the best product I have tried for buildup and scalp exfoliation. Lastly, we have my purple shampoo. My ride or die. The product that has been with me all of these years. The Milk_Shake Silver Shine Shampoo. If you know, you know. It's the best. Smells delish. 100% recommend.
CONDITIONER
Now when we think things couldn't get more complex, I bring in my conditioning routine. So, I also have three different products. Well, one is a mask and one is a leave in conditioner but they all hydrate so they can count as conditioners. My regular conditioner is the Eleven Australia Hydrate My Hair Conditioner. I put this from my scalp to my ends. If you told me even 3 months ago to put conditioner on my scalp, I would have laughed at you and probably told you I wouldn't be caught dead doing that. But, things change. We evolve. Turns out, curly hair needs HYDRATION. And your scalp will get dried out if you don't give it the moisture it needs. Trust me, I made this mistake at first and my scalp was so dry and flakey. No thank you. Next, my leave in conditioner. I use the one by Mixed Chicks. I put this in once I wash out my normal conditioner. Then, I flip my head over and scrunch those curls. About every third wash, I will switch my conditioner for a mask and use the Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! mask. Again, I lather it allllll over my roots and bring it down to the ends. This mask is super hydrating without being heavy which we love.
POST SHOWER PRODUCTS
Here is where things get a little less confusing! After the shower, I make sure to dry my hair with a cotton t-shirt - NOT A TOWEL. The abrasion from the towels will cause frizz! If you really want to use a towel, get a microfibre one. To help dry my hair, I scrunch it with my head upside down. Then I add mousse. I use the one by Cake. Smells amazing. Not attached to it but she works. Once my hair is dry, I add some argan oil. The oil I use is by OGX. Personally a huge fan of this oil because it never leaves a residue and it doesn't weigh my hair down. Another great product I love it the Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment, but I only use it when I don't plan on doing my curly hair routine.

**here is a link for a gift set of both Briogeo products together! I may have gifted this to myself.
Obviously don't go and use all these at once, but I definitely recommend trying them out! Especially if you have curly/wavy hair. If you are local, you can get the Eleven products at Art of Alchemy in Mission or Fusion Hair in Abby! (Fusion also has Milk_Shake!) Everything else is Sephora or drugstore.
Let me know if you try any of these out!! Head to my stories on insta for a little step by step on HOW I use these products with my natural hair!
