Hangover Cures

HAPPY FRIDAY! I figured we should kick off the weekend with some tips for how to cure a hangover. Besides the usual Advil, water, and rest, I have started doing these small things to give me some relief. I don’t drink often but even after a couple glasses of wine, I need some help the next day. Try these out and let me know how they work out for you!

ELECTROLYTES

I used to drink a huge Gatorade after a night of drinking but now I drink water with Nuun tablets. They taste great and are easy to bring along if you aren’t staying at your place. I started using these this past summer and they honestly have saved me many times. I really notice a difference when I don’t use them. I can’t remember where I bought them but I know you can get them at Sportchek and Amazon!

When I was camping, we went wine tasting and then once we got back around 4pm, I passed out for a good three hours. I woke up and my face was swollen, and I felt so puffy and hot. My sister’s friend reminded me that I had this and told me to put it on… Holy moly did it feel GREAT. The coconut water helps soothe your face and it actually feels like it is cooling down your skin. It also makes your face radiant which is a huge bonus. I now make sure I always use this after some drinks.

HOT SHOWER

Hot showers kind of cure everything in my opinion. There’s gotta be some sort of scientific reasoning behind why they help when you are hungover but I swear I feel 10 times better after I have taken one. Turn the heat up, take a nice long shower (but not too long because let’s be environmentally conscious ok) and sweat out the alcohol. I promise it will help you out.

I never go without doing these three things after I have had any sort of alcohol, BUT some great ways to prevent feeling the after affects include:

+ DON"T MIX - i swear, everyone says this but honestly, who actually does this?? Not a whole lot of people, that's for sure. If you like vodka, stick to drinks with ONLY vodka in it. If you like wine, ONLY drink wine. If you like tequila, only drink things with, you guessed it, TEQUILA in it!! It isn't hard. Unless you like sangria. Then you are just going to have to suck it up and face the fact that you will most likely feel it tomorrow because they throw ALL KINDS of things in there!

+ CUT BACK ON THE SUGAR - I started trying to drink things with limited ingredients. No more fancy cocktails for me, (well not NO more, just way less) I do whatever I can to stick to things like a gin and soda or a vodka soda and add lemon and lime. They are still yummy but have way less garbage in them.

I could just say if you don't want a hangover, don't drink buuuut we all know that won't happen for all of us. With everything in life, remember moderation. Oh and obvs no drinking and driving please!!!

Let me know what your fave hangover cures are! I am always dying for more tips on how to NOT feel like death after indulging in my fave wines or mixed drinks.

Have a happy Friday and (hopefully) a hangover-free weekend!
